Does Latvia opt into EU Inc?

· informational

No Latvian government position on EU Inc (COM(2026) 321) has been published, and no documented endorsement of the campaign by the Latvian startup ecosystem (Startin.LV) has surfaced either. The Competitiveness Council held its first ministerial policy debate on the proposal on 28 May 2026, but individual interventions were not made public. The regulation is not yet adopted; Latvia will decide with the other member states in Council by qualified majority.

Latvia’s default startup vehicle is the SIA (sabiedrība ar ierobežotu atbildību), the national limited-liability company used by virtually all Latvian startups, including in its reduced-capital variant. Until Riga’s position becomes visible, the practical reference points are the supranational precedent — see EU Inc vs SE — and the tracker for the live legislative state.
