Does Lithuania opt into EU Inc?
Vilnius has published no official position on EU Inc, but the file is openly contested domestically: in May 2026 the Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation (LPSK) urged the Ministry of Economy and Innovation not to support the regulation without binding safeguards for workers’ rights, on the eve of the Competitiveness Council’s first ministerial debate on 28 May 2026. The government’s actual stance remains unpublished; the regulation is not yet adopted and will be decided in Council by qualified majority.
Lithuania’s standard startup vehicles are the UAB (uždaroji akcinė bendrovė) for funded companies and the lighter MB (mažoji bendrija) at the earliest stage — EU Inc would be an optional alternative to both, not a replacement.
