Does Slovakia opt into EU Inc?
The Slovak government has not published a position, but domestic expert debate is under way: the Ministry of Justice hosted a roundtable on the proposal in May 2026, and the Association of Entrepreneurs of Slovakia (ZPS) co-organised a June expert debate with the Slovak Association of Finance and Treasury, where shell-company risk, AML controls and the Article 114 legal basis drew pointed criticism. Debate is not a stance: the regulation is not adopted, and Slovakia will vote in Council by qualified majority.
The default domestic vehicle is the s.r.o. (spoločnosť s ručením obmedzeným), Slovakia’s standard limited-liability form for startups. Whether EU Inc offers enough over an s.r.o. to justify switching will depend on the final text — see the tracker for the live legislative state.
