Competitiveness Council holds first policy debate on EU Inc

At the Competitiveness Council on 28 May 2026, EU ministers held their first policy debate on the EU Inc proposal. Most delegations backed advancing the file toward the European Council’s target of agreement by the end of 2026, while flagging open questions on safeguards against fraud and tax evasion, legal certainty, and respect for national rules.
