Ireland takes Council Presidency, keeps 28th regime on the agenda

Ireland assumed the rotating Presidency of the Council of the EU on 1 July 2026 and named the 28th company-law regime — the EU Inc proposal — in its work programme, taking over the steering of the file in Council. The Company Law working party continues its technical sessions under the Irish chair: Session 10 was held on 2 July, with Sessions 11 and 12 confirmed for 8 and 23 July. The Presidency works toward the European Council’s target of agreement by the end of 2026, though nothing is adopted yet and the file remains in the ordinary legislative procedure.
